THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Keepers of the Trap. Don’t you wish everything was labeled accurately? Everything is labeled, of course, but not with accuracy. Peter talks about springs – that is, places where you can expect to find water – but he’s referring to springs that have no water. Jeremiah lamented in his day the many priests and prophets who turned out not to be true priests and prophets – for no one profited from their ministry. Indeed, they were like the false apostles Paul knew to be in Corinth. Such folk, he says, are like Satan who disguises himself as an angel of light. All these are really keepers of the trap.

THE FLOWER CHART FOR 2018 is posted on the wall in the narthex for those who would like to sponsor flowers for our sanctuary. These dates are still available: April 1, 8, 22, 29; May 13, 20; and August 26.

ANNUAL DINNER AND BUSINESS MEETING of Leidy’s Church takes place this Saturday, January 20th. Registration forms are in the bulletin. At this meeting a budget will be adopted for 2018. A copy of the budget is posted on the narthex wall.
THE SUNDAY MORNING LADIES CLASS has begun a book/DVD study by Lysa TerKeurst entitled Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely. Uninvited reminds us we are destined for a love that can never be diminished, tarnished, shaken, or taken—a love that does not reject or un-invite. All ladies are welcome to attend. The class begins at 8:45 in Room 118.
UNIVEST STOCK TUMBLES as church makes significant payment on mortgage principal thus averting many interest payments. Well, that headline didn’t really appear. But it is true that Leidy’s Church raised $133,922.65 for her Building Fund that was matched with another $133,922.65 from a challenge fund. Do the math and you’ll see how it was that a very significant payment was made this week that will lower our mortgage principal amount by over a quarter of a million dollars! Praise be to God!
VEHICLE DELIVERED Just two days ago, on Friday the 12th, a Yukon vehicle was delivered to Colleen Estes in Pikangikum, Ontario. Thanks be to God! The crew of Francis Weiss, Tony Kapusta, Mario Guerreiro, Chris Tawney, Nick Smith, and Merle Geisinger drove it and a return vehicle all the way from Souderton, leaving on Wednesday evening about 10 pm. Allegedly, they will be back in time for services this morning. So if you hear someone snoring or catch an aroma of someone who may have been in transit/sans shower for the past 80 hours, it probably is one of that crew. It would be appropriate to thank them for their labors and effort, and then to praise God for His faithfulness throughout this entire endeavor, from the raising of funds to the trip home.
MISSIONS COMMITTEE meets this Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Conference Room.
BOOK OF THE QUARTER BOOKS are here and in the office. The Youth Book of the Quarter is Intentional Parenting by Tad Thompson and costs $8 per copy. This quarter’s everyone-should-be-interested book is Concise Theology by J.I. Packer and costs $11 per copy. Stop by the office and check them out. Then you can purchase them if you so desire.
KENYA ORPHANAGE TRIP will take place March 20-30. The orphanage is the Mahiga Orphanage which Leidy’s Church supports on a monthly basis. A new dormitory we helped fund is being dedicated on March 25th. We’ll have representatives present: Wendy Radcliff and Pastor Steve Myers. This is the first opportunity for folk from Leidy’s Church to develop personal connections with the Mahiga staff and children, so we’re excited about it. We want to raise funds to help Wendy and Pastor Steve on their way. If you would like to be part of their support team, please use a Second Mile offering envelope and mark it: Kenya Orphanage.
SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY is next Sunday. Representatives from the PA Family Institute will be here to mark the occasion. A special presentation will take place during Sunday School in the Issues and Answers class. Titled Freedom in the Balance and presented by Kurt Weaver and Randall Wenger, it will highlight concerns of which we should be aware and what we can do in light of them. It will be a timely and cogent presentation. You’re invited to be present for it.
GET INFORMED! All of us should know more about our country’s governance. We didn’t pay sufficient attention in school! If this describes you, you’ll be glad to know Leidy’s Church is hosting a six week Constitution Course that begins this Tuesday evening, January 16th. See the Newsletter for more details. You may speak with Lorne or Susan Slack about the course, or Pastor Niederhaus. The course is sponsored by the Faith and Freedom Coalition of PA.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO BLAST INTO HYPERSPACE with the cast and crew of Space Quest. This fun-packed, scripture-loaded musical will have you humming Bible verses all week. We practice most Saturday mornings from 10-11am. We are especially looking for one more teen/young adult female that would be a smaller time commitment than the rest of the crew. Contact Donna Frueh if you’re interested in saving the Galaxy with us!
WOMEN’S SPRING EVENT: Behold Conference. Think Spring and register for the Behold Conference which will be held on April 21st at the Family Worship Center in Lansdale. Cost for the day including a catered lunch is $30 if you register before March 15th. Information at wwwbeholdconference.net  For further info or questions, contact Verna 215-237-1370.

NEW PRECEPT COURSE ~ ACTS PART TWO:  If you were not with us for part one of the book of Acts, this is an opportunity to join us for part two!  We plan on beginning on February 15th if there are no further delays for the first semester due to weather cancellations. We have been observing Paul’s transformation from persecutor of the church to preacher. Join him (and us) on the journey across the Roman world to proclaim the saving message of Jesus and learn to trust our sovereign Lord who enables us to do the same. Contact information Verna 215-237-1370, workbook are $18.

MENTORS NEEDED! iBLAST has just started and we are looking for three additional mentors. These are individuals who spend time getting to know the kids in iBLAST and lead them around to the various activities. It is a great way to serve our youth!  If you are able and interested, please contact pastor Michael.
EVANGELISM COMMITTEE meets this Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Conference Room.
NEEDED: Adults and teens (14 & up) are needed to help with childcare during the worship service. Even if you do not have a child needing childcare you are welcome to help. If you can do only one day a month, it would be most appreciated. Help is needed in all three areas Guppies (infant to 17 mos.), Lambs (18 mos. to 3 yrs.), and Lions (3-5 yrs.). If you are 18 years or older you must have a police and child abuse background check done. If you need help to do this, you can contact the church office. Contact Justine Smith if you are able to help in any way. Thank you.
MEALS SIGN-UP SHEET – Anyone who would like to participate in our meal ministry by providing an occasional meal for members of our Leidy’s Church family in 2018 should sign-up on the sheet provided in the narthex. Here’s how it works! When we see that someone requires a meal due to having a new baby, an illness, or as a result of a hospital stay, Hazel Krier will call the names of those who sign up on a rotating basis to cook and deliver meals for them and their families. This is a one-year commitment only, so be sure to sign up for 2018 even if you were on last’s list. Thank you for participating.
GLORY GRIFFITH a young woman from the congregation is looking for work. She will do cleaning, housework, childcare, or housesitting, please call her at 610-222-4431.
