*    CONFESSION OF SIN – first in silence and then in unison
C: Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the world, the Servant sent from the Father, to bring salvation to mankind. You have commissioned us to be Your ambassadors, to tell others about You. Lord Jesus, we confess we have passed by in silence, doors You opened for our witness. We admit the world and its arguments have intimidated us. We’ve been afraid to speak of You and Your work. Our witness has been feeble; our words garbled; and our actions hesitant. Forgive us through Your abundant mercies. O Lord, we desire to be faithful witnesses. We want to tell others about You. Help us. Give us courage. Give us opportunities. Use us. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Tell Them About Jesus. In today’s text from Acts, the Holy Spirit leads Philip to initiate a conversation with a man in a chariot. The man invites him into the chariot, asking Philip to tell him about this Scripture text he’s reading from Isaiah 53. So, Philip tells the man about Jesus! The man believes what Philip tells him. He wants to be baptized into Jesus, and Philip does so. The man goes on his way rejoicing. We, too, must tell others about Jesus. When we do, we can rest in the knowledge that the Gospel is the power of God to bring salvation to all who believe. What a joyful task.

INVOLVED & INVESTED is a two week Sunday School special on how Leidy’s Church works. Happening on September 20th and 27th, all the adult SS classes and all the narthex loungers and all the out-to-brunch crew and all others are asked to come together in the Fellowship Hall these two weeks. Sponsored by the Focus Group that’s been meeting this past year, details may be found in the September Newsletter. Food will be available.
A NEW SIGN-UP has been posted in the narthex to provide meals for the Lafty family three times a week through the month of September. The meals have been a big blessing to them over the last few months, and each and every one of you who have helped out are very much appreciated.
RALLY DAY is two weeks from today! Ministry Commissions and Charges will be issued during each service of worship. Sunday School features the sausage and pancake breakfast. Bibles for those entering First Grade, a balloon launch, an opportunity to meet new teachers, and some other interesting items. Join in as we rally for a fresh academic year of serving the Lord Jesus.
THE BUILDING PROJECT had the dust flying everywhere this past week. Substantial grading was done for the perimeter roadway and also for the entryway to the athletic fields. Because of curbing that was poured, now one can trace the size and location of those roadways. Some sidewalk space along Cherry Lane was poured also. Workmen have been high all week, that is, high up on the steeple applying trim and flashing. Permanent locks are in place throughout the building now. Without a key no one will be able to get in except by breaking and entering. Work continues on the inside of the building with drywall beginning to be installed in the administrative area. We give thanks to God for the progress being made and His gracious provisions.
GET YOUR PAGES IN for the 28:19 project. It wraps up next week. Yes, you still have time to read a bit more. Plenty of prizes are still available. If you have a good testimony of what you discovered or learned from participating in the 28:19 project this summer, please speak about it with Vangie, or jot her a note with some details.
BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL BREAKFAST takes place on Wednesday morning, Sept. 16th. Special speaker is Brett King. Yes, this is a change from the normal Thursday morning schedule, but the location is the same: the Franconia Heritage restaurant banquet facility. Start time is 6:30 and you’re on your way by 8. Tickets through Leidy’s Church are $10.
A GATHERING FOR PRAYER takes place at Leidy’s Church on Thursday evening, Sept. 24th. There are many things about which the Church needs to pray, but we’ll focus on two items in particular: persecuted Christians around the world; and asking the Holy Spirit to bring a deep spirit of repentance to our land. Further details are in the September Newsletter.
JUDGEMENT HOUSE IS BACK! It happens in October, but you need to get your involvement nailed down now. See Pastor Andrew or Rachel Tyson or call the church office for opportunities for you to be part of this significant outreach program.
