     THE SERMON: “Angels and Demons”
*  CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
     C: Almighty God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – we confess our sin to You. We desire to know You, to serve You, and to be fruitful for You. That good desire is compromised by other desires. We want to be like other people, and to be liked by other people. We want to take our ease, and not be stretched or challenged. We want to have much gain, but we want it to come without effort. We want to grow spiritually, but without renouncing worldliness. All this makes us tend to the superficial and temporal, at the sake of the profound and eternal. Lord Jesus, help us. Forgive the shallowness of our hearts, and draw us deeper into Your truth. Holy Spirit, renew our minds and purify our hearts. O Father, draw us to You, that our lives may be filled with Your truth, and lived in your light. Almighty God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – we desire most to honor You. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Angels and Demons. A particularly thorny, but interesting, element of the doctrine of creation concerns angels and demons. The Bible is full of angels and demons. The vast majority of us, though, have never seen an angel or a demon. In fact, the vast majority of humans have never seen an angel or a demon. Nevertheless, we see and experience the effects of angels and demons regularly. It is important that we have a clear understanding of these created spiritual beings. Man was made a little lower than the angels, yet Christians in due time will judge the angels. Could be interesting.

CAN YOU VOLUNTEER AT THE COMMUNITY FAIR? Penn Valley Church in Telford is looking for volunteers to help with their upcoming Community Fair which runs June 13-17. Their lead pastor, Larry Orme, was responsible for setting this in motion five years ago and it was his desire to use this event to show God’s love and generosity to the surrounding community. Larry went home to his Savior on April 21st and it is the church’s desire to carry on his vision and spread Christ’s love through this fair. Volunteers are needed to help serve in many areas and you can sign up by going to their website at www.pennvalleychurch.org/fair. More information on events is also listed on this page. If you have any questions or need help signing up, call Penn Valley’s Church Office at 215-723-5890 ext. 4301.
THANK YOU from Ruth Bugge for the many cards, prayers and greetings. It is so encouraging to know others care about you. Those encouragements help with the healing.

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! Tune: Thou, Whose Purpose is to Kindle

Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the scepter, His the throne.
Alleluia! His the triumph,
His the victory alone.
Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion,
Thunder like a mighty flood:
“Jesus out of every nation,
Has redeemed us by His blood.”
Alleluia! not as orphans, are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! He is near us,
Faith believes, nor questions how;
Though the cloud from sight received Him,
When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,
“I am with you evermore”?
Alleluia! bread of angels, here on earth
Our food, our stay;
Alleluia! here the sinful,
Flee to You from day to day:
Intercessor, Friend of sinners,
Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless,
Sweep across the crystal sea.
Alleluia! King eternal, You the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth Your footstool, Heav’n Your throne:
As within the veil You entered,
Robed in flesh our great High Priest;
Here on earth both priest and victim
In the Eucharistic feast.

A Hymn of Glory Tune: All Creatures of Our God and King

A hymn of glory let us sing,
New hymns throughout the world shall ring:
Alleluia, Alleluia
Christ, by a road before untrod,
Ascends unto the throne of God.
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
The holy apostolic band,
Upon the Mount of Olives stand:
Alleluia, Alleluia
And with His faithful foll’wers see,
Their Lord ascend in majesty.
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
To them the shining angels cry,
“Why stand and gaze upon the sky?”
Alleluia, Alleluia
“This is the Savior” thus they say;
“This is His glorious triumph day!”
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
“You see Him now, ascending high,
Upon the portals of the sky.”
Alleluia, Alleluia
“Hereafter Jesus you shall see,
Returning in great majesty.”
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Be now our joy on earth, O Lord,
And be our future great reward.
Alleluia, Alleluia
Then, throned with You forever, we,
Shall praise Your name eternally.
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
O risen Christ, ascended Lord,
All praise to You let earth accord:
Alleluia, Alleluia
You are, while endless ages run,
With Father, Holy Spirit, one.
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
