MORNING WORSHIP – 8:00 & 10:45
*  THE OPENING HYMN: #192  Angels We Have Heard on High
*  THE SOLEMN DECLARATION            C: Amen
*  THE CONFESSION OF SIN – first in silence & then in unison
C: Almighty and most merciful God, we have strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have gone against Your laws. We have left undone those things we should have done, and we have done those things we should never have done. Have mercy upon us. Make us whole. And help us to live a righteous life to the glory of Your Holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.
* THE KYRIE (sung)
P: Lord, have mercy upon us.
C: Lord, have mercy upon us.
P: Christ, have mercy upon us.
C: Christ, have mercy upon us.
P: Lord, have mercy upon us.
C: Lord, have mercy upon us.
P: God shows His love for us…
      C: Amen
      P: Let us praise God!
     C: Praise the Lord!
*   THE GRATEFUL PRAISE: To God Be the Glory
To God be the glory – great things He hath done!
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the Lifegate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O Come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory – great things He hath done

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Quodlibet. It’s that time of year again, time for the annual Quodlibet sermon. In case you’ve forgotten, or have never heard of this phenomenon, here’s what it means. The pastor does not prepare a sermon for this Sunday. Instead, in each bulletin there will be a slip of paper on which attendees may write a question. Those slips of paper will be collected just prior to the sermon, then the pastor will take them into the pulpit to read and respond to as many as time allows. The questions can be about anything – that’s what Quodlibet means: ask what you will.
THE SECOND CANDLE on the Advent Wreath is the candle of Peace. Jesus was born into the world to bring peace between God and mankind. As we receive God’s peace through the righteousness of Christ, we are enabled to share that peace with others as we seek to encourage greater love and understanding in our homes, community, nation, and world.
