* CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
C: Lord Jesus, we turn to You, for You are the Lamb of God. Nor are You just any lamb. You are the perfect, without-any-defect Lamb. You are the Lamb who invites us to lay our hands – that is, our known and confessed sins, as well as our sins unknown to us – on Your head. You take them on Yourself, receiving all the wrath and judgment they deserve. Thereby, You take away our guilt and shame forevermore. Lord Jesus, we confess we need Your intervening work of atonement. Without it we are justly doomed and damned. Continue to reveal to us the depth of our fallenness, and the ever-greater and surpassing depth of Your redeeming grace, a grace that not only takes away our sin, but enriches us with Your righteousness. We join in the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Here’s Why. Two men on the road to Emmaus meet the risen Jesus but do not know it. As they walk and converse with Him, He is amazed at what they don’t know. They’d had their highest hopes crushed by the stone that sealed the tomb of Jesus. They had no clue that it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer. Why? To make atonement for the sins of His people. Like those two men, most folk today have little awareness of the nature and necessity of atonement. Don’t leave this world without an experiential knowledge of Christ’s atonement.
THIS MORNING Leidy’s Church is receiving new members. We wish to welcome the following people in our fellowship. Take time to greet them after the service.

They are $11 each and include a coupon for $2 off any food item purchased at the park.
THE CONSISTORY MEETS tomorrow evening at 7:30 in the Conference Room.
DON’T WASTE YOUR SUMMER sitting by the pool or beach! Use these lazy, hazy (or rainy) days of summer to prepare for the Christmas Craft & Gift Sale! We are letting you know now that we are definitely on the church calendar for Saturday, November 18th, so you can’t say you didn’t have enough time to prepare! Turn those strawberries into jelly and pickle those beets! Consider picking a favorite ministry or charity to raise funds for and work together as a family. Turn trash into treasures this summer and maybe those treasures can turn into cash in November!
