THE HOLY SCRIPTURES:  Isaiah 44:1-5 (page 517)
                 Luke 1:30-35, 41-42, 64, 67 (page 43)
            Luke 4:1-2a, 13-15 (page 47)
     THE SERMON: “The Promise”
*  CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
[from Martin Luther’s A Simple Way to Pray]
C: O dear Lord, God and Father, enter not into judgment against us, because no man living is justified before You. Do not count it against us as a sin, that we are so unthankful for Your unspeakable goodness, spiritual and physical, or that we stray into sin many times every day, more often than we can know or recognize. Do not look upon how good – or how wicked – we have been, but only upon the infinite compassion which You have bestowed upon us in Christ, Your dear Son. Grant forgiveness also to those who have harmed or wronged us, as we forgive them from our hearts. They inflict the greatest injury upon themselves, by arousing Your anger in their actions toward us. We are not helped by their ruin; we would much rather that they be saved with us. Amen.
* ASSURANCE OF PARDON: #83 Be Thou My Vision
* THE CLOSING HYMN: #133  Shout to the Lord
* SILENT MEDITATION – Please remain in your pews in a worshipful attitude  until the Pastor leaves

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is The Promise. The Holy Spirit is the One who brings God’s promises to fruition. Without the Holy Spirit we have no real basis for hope. This Sunday we particularly want to consider this reality with respect to children. Speaking through Isaiah, the Lord gave a wonderful promise to His people, a promise that is only accomplished by the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus famously told Nicodemus the work of the Spirit was like the wind: it blows where it wills, we hear the sound of it, yet we don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. We say, “Come Holy Spirit.”
THE SACRAMENT of Holy Communion will be shared this morning. We invite all members of the church of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament. Please fill out a communion card and place it in the offering plate.

THE SUMMER SPECIAL MUSIC schedule is posted in the narthex. We hope you will share your God-given talents with us this summer. Pastor Chris will contact you to schedule a time for practice.
THE LOST SHEEP prayer group meets the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.
SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL volunteers are needed starting June 25th in order to give our teachers a break over the summer. So, if you are a parent, prayer partner, grandparent, aunt/uncle, or friend please consider taking one Sunday to teach this summer. All the material is provided for you. Look for a sign-up sheet with the dates needed in the narthex. Our kids are the greatest – take time to get to know them!
ARE YOU READY to provide support for a specific member of the SLMT mission team? Team participants are in the process of looking for folk to pray for them individually and to help each one raise his or her required $480 financial undergirding. If you are ready, but no one has approached you, let the church office know. You will be approached! Thanks.
PLAY BALL!!! Leidy’s Church has a block of 50 tickets for the Saturday evening, July 29th game between the minor league leading Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and the thoroughly deplorable Durham Bulls. It should be a good game as the Bulls have the next best record in the minors after the Pigs. Tickets are available after the service today. They are $11 each and include a coupon for $2 off any food item purchased at the park.
THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped in all the preparations for and actual doing of yesterday’s Strawberry Festival/Chicken BarBQ. No significant event such as this can be done without thousands of cumulative volunteer hours. Of course, working together is a great joy also, so we trust you had a good time in the midst of your labors! You fed and blessed many. Thank you.
HOW TO HELP when you can’t go on the SLMT trip. There are SLMT Work Days to get lots of work done. You may come as short or long a time as you have available. There are multiple types of tasks to be done. SLMT Work Days are scheduled for June 20, 21, and 22 from 9 to noon and then again at 6:30 pm. It all happens in Room 105, which is on the Christian Ed level directly under the chancel area. If you have any questions, contact Mary Beth.
ATTENTION ALL VBS VOLUNTEERS!  There is a volunteer meeting this Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you are involved in any aspect of VBS — with the exception of the toddler program & nursery — you should make every effort to attend this meeting. Not sure if you’re a volunteer? Please check the list near the restrooms in the narthex. Can’t make it to the meeting? Please call Laura Heebner at 215-872-9834.
NEW MEMBERS will be received into Leidy’s Church on July 2nd. Those interested in joining the church should contact Pastor Niederhaus or the church office sooner rather than later to make the appropriate arrangements.
LOOKING FOR A SMALL WAY TO HELP OUT WITH VBS? Visit the bulletin board in the narthex near the restrooms to see what’s needed. There are sign-up sheets for decor sessions, clean-up sessions, and baked good donations. None of these jobs require clearances so anyone can help! Contact Laura Heebner 215-872-9834 with any questions.
TWO REMINDERS FOR THOSE ATTENDING and/or helping with VBS. First, VBS dinner registration is now open. If you plan to join us for dinner prior to VBS (Mon-Thurs evenings only) please sign up using the link on Leidy’s website under Events – Ocean Commotion VBS. Second, there is a meeting for all volunteers (except nursery and toddler helpers) this Tuesday night, June 13th, at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The meeting will take about 30 minutes. Contact Laura Heebner 215-872-9834 with any questions.
PRELIMINARY FOOD PREP FOR VBS AND SLMT will take place in the kitchen beginning Monday, June 19th, at 10 am. If you are available to help out during the day, stop by! Questions? Please speak with Lorraine Kroesser (215.855.4673).
MISSION COMMITTEE MEMBERS should remember to stop by the office and sign some cards this week sometime. There’s a pretty large stack, so allow 10 minutes or so to do so. Thanks.
WONDERING WHERE TO GO when you come for your Photo Directory appointment? You should head to the Christian Ed level and when you get off the elevator or reach the bottom of the front stairs, you will see signage directing you to the appropriate nearby rooms. The directory company will use rooms 117, 118, and 119 though which room will be used for what is undetermined at this time.
CALLING ALL 18 TO 45 YEAR-OLDS!  You are invited to join the conversation, after the service of worship this morning in the Youth Room. We need your help to design ministry to address your spiritual and practical needs in the context of church life here at Leidy’s Church. Questions to be addressed include: What are your needs? How can we be of help? What form might this help take? No childcare is scheduled to be provided, but if you would like to help with that it would be most appreciated.
THE BLT TRIO (Bolding, Lockman & Trumbore) return for their third annual summer concert of music for violin, cello and piano at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2871 Barndt Rd., Harleysville, on Saturday, June 17th at 7 p.m. This concert will feature Keoni Bolding’s own arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue! A free will offering will be taken, a reception will follow the concert.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY for you to make an appointment to have your picture taken for the new church directory. Picture taking begins this Tuesday and runs through Saturday. You may sign up online by going to http://www.ucdir.com,/ enter PA725 in the Church Code field and enter Church in the Church Password field. OR you may choose to sign up in person today at the Photo Directory table. Still needed are a few people to help during the time of the photo shoots. Four time slots are still available.
