THE SERMON TITLE this morning is The X Factor. Almost every family has a story or two about recipes getting fouled up. It may have been the time baking powder was used in place of flour. What family has not had helpful children refill the salt shaker with sugar or vice versa? All such instances lead to unpleasant surprises; after all, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That helps explain why many folk have a sour taste in their mouth from regular life experiences. To rightly taste life one must not leave out the X Factor. Most folk nowadays do. With disastrous results. What is the X Factor? The Fall.

THIS IS IT! The big Commotion that’s been brewing for months starts this evening! Yes, it is the Leidy’s Church summer VBS program. While we thank all who have worked hard to bring us to this point, we solicit your ongoing prayers for the kids who will be here and for the youth and adults who will be interacting, teaching, playing, guiding, caring for, and otherwise doing all the normal VBS stuff with them. We give thanks to the Lord Jesus for this opportunity.
LILLIAN KING wishes to thank those who sent cards for her 94th birthday. She really appreciated them.
VBS CLEAN-UP happens on Friday. We are in need of extra hands to get the Fellowship Hall back into order for the funeral that will take place here Friday afternoon. Sign-up sheet is on the narthex wall. Thank you.
THE SUMMER SPECIAL MUSIC schedule is posted in the narthex. We hope you will share your God-given talents with us this summer. Pastor Chris will contact you to schedule a time for practice.
NEW MEMBERS will be received into Leidy’s Church on July 9th. Those interested in joining the church should contact Pastor Niederhaus or the church office sooner rather than later to make the appropriate arrangements.
PLAY BALL!!! Leidy’s Church has a block of 50 tickets for the Saturday evening, July 29th game between the minor league leading Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and the thoroughly deplorable Durham Bulls. It should be a good game as the Bulls have the next best record in the minors after the Pigs. Tickets are available after the service today. They are $11 each and include a coupon for $2 off any food item purchased at the park.
THIS SUMMER the Women’s Sunday School class, which meets in Room 118, will be watching a series of DVDs from the Answers in Genesis 2015 Women’s Conference. The theme of the conference was teaching how to give compassionate answers to those struggling in this fallen world with issues such as adultery, abortion, homosexuality, and disability to point them to Jesus and His Word. Ladies of all ages are welcome to come and go as they are able.
CHRISTIAN WRITERS CONFERENCEAre you a writer or a wanna-be? Write His Answer Ministry will hold the annual Greater Philly Christian Writers Conference at Cairn University in Langhorne, July 26-29.  You can register for one or more days at www.philadelphia.writehisanswer.com or by contacting the conference director, Marlene Bagnull at 484-991-8581. She says, “As I consider the critical days we are living in, I cannot think of a more important assignment than to “Write His Answer” through screenplays, novels, non-fiction books, poetry, devotionals, and more.”  This is a great opportunity to meet with authors, editors, publishers, and editors to equip and encourage your writing ministry.
THANKS FROM THE MIRABELLA FAMILY:  Sincere thanks to our church family for your cards, hugs, love & prayers received following the death of Michael’s mom. May your lovingkindness be returned to you, pushed down and over-flowing!
THANK YOU to all the individuals and families who have come out to the SLMT work days and work nights. You’ve done great work. We appreciated your diligence at the task and your cheerfulness while doing so. Everything is ship-shape and ready to be packaged and loaded onto the comfortable, air-conditioned, video-equipped luxury coach we take to Red Lake, Ontario. [Just in case you’re wondering if you could manage to endure that ride one year!]
A HEARTY WELCOME IS EXTENDED to John Freeman from Harvest USA. Founded a couple of decades ago in the heart of Philadelphia, this ministry seeks to proclaim Christ as Lord to a sexually broken world. It does so through one-on-one ministry, small groups, teaching ministry, and working with and through local churches.  Harvest USA has been part of our churches budget and prayers since 1996.
PRAYING HAPPENS this Saturday morning, which is the first Saturday of the month. That means Patterns of Prayer will be taking place in Room 117. You may stop in any time from 8 til noon for as long or as short a time as your schedule allows. If you have questions or suggestions, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

Thou, Whose Purpose is to Kindle

Thou, whose purpose is to kindle,
Now ignite us with Thy fire.
While the earth awaits Thy burning,
With Thy passion us inspire.
Overcome our sinful calmness,
Rouse us with redemptive shame.
Baptize with Thy fiery Spirit,
Crown our lives with tongues of flame.
Thou, who in Thy holy gospel
Will that all should truly live,
Make us sense our share of failure,
Our tranquility forgive.
Teach us courage as we struggle
In all liberating strife.
Lift the smallness of our vision
By Thy own abundant life.
Thou, who still a sword delivers
Rather than a placid peace,
With Thy sharpened Word disturb us,
From complacency release!
Save us now from satisfaction,
When we privately are free,
Yet are undisturbed in spirit
By our neighbor’s misery.
