*   CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
[Adapted from prayers of confession by Hughes Oliphant Old]
C: O Lord, great God, whom we behold in awe and wonder, who has kept covenant and steadfast love with Your people from age to age. We have sinned and done wrong, turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. We have known in our hearts what is right, and yet we did wrong anyway. We have been fascinated by evil, delighted with pleasing ourselves, satisfying our desires, pampering ourselves with pleasures. O Lord, great God, have mercy on us, according to Your steadfast love. We know You delight in goodness; grant that we, too, might delight in goodness. We ask all this, O Father, in the name of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain, and yet lives forevermore. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is An Interlude. When Luke wrote the book of Acts, from chapter 13 onward he documents the extensive ministry of the Apostle Paul. Readers of Acts follow Paul from Antioch all through his various missionary travels and to the prison in Rome. Only one time does Luke shift his focus off Paul. It happens in our text for this Lord’s Day when Luke introduces a man renown for his eloquence, Apollos of Alexandria. While he’s the main figure, two other persons are prominent in this interlude: Priscilla and Aquila, the co-laborers of Paul. Lots of interesting issues come up.
SPIRITUAL COUNCIL meets this Tuesday evening at 7:30 in Room 16.
THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL takes place this Saturday, June 11th. Much help is still needed on Thursday night, Friday morning, and the day of the Festival to make it a success. Forms are on the narthex desk. Be sure to check as many volunteer positions as you can fill.
IF YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO COOK up 10 lbs. of ground beef and help make BBQ for the Strawberry Festival it would be most appreciated. We provide the meat . . . and you can prepare any recipe you like. Contact the church office.
LOST SHEEP prayer group meets the second Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, and the second Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cindy Filson.
THE SUMMER SPECIAL MUSIC schedule is posted in the narthex. Each participant is required to meet with a member of the audio-visual team the week before they sing. You will be given the name of the AV person who is on duty for that week so that you can contact him. We hope you will share your God-given talents with us this summer.
PRAYER VIGIL – We will be gathering together at the new building for a 12 hour vigil for the purpose of starting out on a solid foundation. Stay tuned for more information on this as dates become clearer.
THE BUILDING PROJECT is essentially finished. No longer are work crews arriving each day to earn their daily bread. Some days there may be a worker or crew present to do some specified task relating to ADA compliance, but mostly those present are folk from the Leidy’s Church staff who are working on some element of the transition from “here to there.” For instance, a work day is scheduled for this Wednesday to transition some tables and other furniture from “here to there.” Details are in another blurb in this bulletin. Until the Labor and Industry Board meets in the third week of June and makes decisions regarding actions we must take, we really cannot do much more. Consequently, this is the last Building Project Update that will be posted until we have some news to report. What this does mean is that our prayers should be focused on that L&I meeting and all that will flow from it. Also, we might ask the Lord Jesus to multiply to us fruits of the Spirit such as patience, peace, and gentleness.
THANK YOU to all the volunteers who made the Men-O-La picnic a reality – and on really short notice! We appreciate you and your labors!
LADIES OF LEIDY’S don’t forget to bake for the Strawberry Festival.
