THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Origins: Part 2. This is Pentecost Sunday, which also means it is Confirmation Sunday! We have a good group of young persons who will profess their faith and commit themselves to a life of faithful Christian discipleship. Paul’s sermon on Mars Hill in Athens is a good text for confirmands and congregation to consider some essentials of the faith. No one is born with faith. Faith does not originate in man’s work but in the work of God. God’s work is accomplished through the declaration of His Word. That Word points to where all origins end: at the judgment seat of God.
THE SACRAMENT of Holy Communion will be shared at both services of worship this morning. We invite all members of the church of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament. Please fill out a communion card and place it in the offering plate.
FOLLOWING THE SERVICE today you will have an opportunity to congratulate/encourage our 2016 confirmation Class as they begin a life of Christian discipleship in the context of local church membership. This year’s confirmands are:
               Karlee Fretz                          Christian Rau
               Reagan Hostelley                 Natalie Reich
               Brian Lafty                             Lizzie Sedares
               Chase Mahoney                    Ruth Thompson
               Julia Martindell                    Megan Walbrandt
               Collin Radcliff                       Lydia Wilwert
EVERYONE IS INVITED to a light, celebratory luncheon following the 10:45 service of worship today. Special guests of honor will be the Confirmation Class of 2016.
A GREAT BIG  “Thank you” to all who helped make this week’s Rummage Sale a success. A special thanks to the clean-up crew who always works hard and fast to get everything back to normal. We made a little over $5,131 and more is still coming in. Please hold your donations for the next Rummage Sale until we move to the new building.
MEN, WOMEN & YOUNG PEOPLE the Hospitality Committee needs you! We will soon be across the street in our new church building and we need a team of people who want to welcome our church family and visitors each Sunday morning. All you need is a smile, a warm handshake, and a welcoming greeting. Our next meeting is on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Please call the church office to be part of this new committee.  If you have any questions, please call Denise at the church office or Greg and Sandy Nase 215-234-8728. We look forward to you joining the Hospitality Team of Leidy’s Church!
CALLING ALL GRADUATES – We want to recognize and honor those graduating from high school, college, business school, or graduate school during the month of June. Please contact the church office with the name of your graduate(s) and what their plans may be for the future.
PLEASE BE SURE to get your children’s Sunday School information turned in as soon as possible.
THE BUILDING PROJECT is missing a component that’s been present for the past two years: the big mountain of top soil where the athletic fields are to be. Bulldozers pushed and pulled and dug out and filled up and leveled off and generally had a good time with all that dirt. On the other side of the property, inside the new building, workers quickly began addressing the items on the non-compliant list of the American with Disabilities Act. In the reception area, adjustments were made to the half wall so that it came into compliance. Work has begun in the dressing rooms of the baptismal area to bring them into compliance as well. Good Plumbing contractors is replacing/adjusting the toilets that were 1/8 of an inch in violation. Other items on the non-compliant list will be brought into compliance as quickly as possible. Merrill Y. Landis company has installed window blinds in the staff offices. The Furnishings Committee is receiving loads of chairs, tables, and other items. Work is also being done to get all the proper signage both inside and out. Oh, did you notice the new stop sign on the corner? That was Franconia Township’s doing, but it should help keep the cemetery wall from being hit so often.
THE DATE TO BEGIN WORSHIPING in the new sanctuary is no longer set for the month of May. In fact, no specific date has been set. We anticipate it will be sometime in mid-summer, but it will depend on when the Labor and Industry Board signs off on the entire building being sufficiently handicap-accessible. So, we’re relaxing a bit on the push to move over before all the summer activities begin. The Dedication Service most likely will be in September. Rather than keep adjusting the date for moving our services across the street, we’ll wait until we know all the ducks are lined up and then give everyone a three or four week notice.
THE CHURCH PICNIC AT MEN-O-LAN IS BACK ON!! Unfortunately, we must have your reservation in by next Sunday in order to let Men-O-Lan plan the amount of food needed. Men-O-Lan will again be providing our mid-day meal, but we will provide our own dessert and supper. Men-O-Lan is a peanut free camp, please nothing made with peanuts. We will need help with set-up and clean-up, as well as people for pond duty and transporting items to and from the church. A sign-up is in the bulletin this morning. Please place completed form in the box provided on the narthex desk.
THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL takes place on Saturday, June 11 th. Much help is needed to make the Festival a success. Forms will be in the bulletin next week. Be sure to check as many volunteer positions you can fill.
THE SUMMER SPECIAL MUSIC schedule is posted in the narthex. Each participant is required to meet with a member of the audio-visual team the week before they sing. You will be given the name of the AV person who is on duty for that week so that you can contact him. We hope you will share your God-given talents with us this summer.
PASTOR STEVE MYERS Sunday School class will be meeting in the Mission House this morning.
REGISTRATION FOR LEIDY’S CHURCH 2016 VBS PROGRAM, SonSpark Labs, is now open to the children of church members and their friends. SonSpark Labs VBS is for children who have completed Kindergarten through 6th grade. Paper registration forms are available in the narthex. Completed forms can be dropped off in the church office. Electronic registration is also available on Leidy’s website under Ministries-Children. Registration opens to the public on May 23rd, so be sure to get your forms in as soon as possible to reserve your spot(s).  Registration closes when we reach capacity or on June 19th, whichever comes first.
