     THE SERMON: “Faithful Ministry”
*   CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
            [from Martin Luther’s A Simple Way to Pray]
     C: O dear Lord, God and Father, enter not into judgment against us, because no man living is justified before You. Do not count it against us as a sin, that we are so unthankful for Your unspeakable goodness, spiritual and physical, or that we stray into sin many times every day, more often than we can know or recognize. Do not look upon how good – or how wicked – we have been, but only upon the infinite compassion which You have bestowed upon us in Christ, Your dear Son. Grant forgiveness also to those who have harmed or wronged us, as we forgive them from our hearts. They inflict the greatest injury upon themselves, by arousing Your anger in their actions toward us. We are not helped by their ruin; we would much rather that they be saved with us. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Faithful Ministry. Wherever Paul went he seemed to generate controversy. He’s constantly being run out of towns. Though he ministers in Corinth for 18 consecutive months, his time there includes a Jewish mob dragging him before the city authorities. The source of most of Paul’s problems was his being a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus. His ministry was faithful and fruitful. Because that was the case, he attracted opposition. He takes pains to maintain proper accountability for himself and for others. Paul is faithful because he knows that God is faithful.

PRAYER VIGIL – We will be gathering together at the new building for a 12 hour vigil for the purpose of starting out on a solid foundation. Stay tuned for more information on this as dates become clearer.
THE BUILDING PROJECT continues to bring items into ADA compliance. Plans are in the works to make adjustments around the pulpit area to meet the required standards, but will require more significant efforts. Grass is beginning to sprout on the soccer field. When it is in place, a bulldozer will begin work on the retention basin just below the field, removing silt that has accumulated, and grading it to the meet the specified finished contour dimensions. That’s what’s been happening to the middle of the three retention basins along Cherry Lane. It had to be pumped out, the accumulated sediment removed, some rip rap stone strategically placed, and regraded to meet the specified finished contour dimensions. The other two basins along Cherry Lane are fine apparently. At least two issues will need to be presented for variance approval to the L&I board at its June meeting. Prayers for those considerations would be appreciated.
SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL volunteers are needed starting on June 26th in order to give our teachers a break over the summer. Look for a sign-up sheet with the dates needed in the narthex soon.

When the Roll is Called Up Yonder
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound,
And time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather
Over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.
On that bright and cloudless morning
When the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather
To their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
Let us labor for the Master
From the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over,
And our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
