        [first used March 11, 1987]
C: You, O God, are the creator and ruler of the universe. We come before You to confess our differences to Your purposes in creation, and our rebellion against Your rule. Our hearts have been intent on our purposes, and so we have neglected Your purposes. We spend much time planning for our ease, but little time in prayer or reading of Your Word, or the sharing of Your truth. Our rebellion against You is seen in broken commitments, hollow relationships, and the barrenness of lives that are too busy. We seek Your forgiveness through the blood of Christ, and the working of the Holy Spirit. Heal and restore us in spirit, soul, and body, so that we may be Your faithful people. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is To Be Discussed. When you talk with other folk about important issues of life, what exactly are the sorts of issues you should raise? In our main text today we have a window of observation into just such a conversation. It’s between the prisoner Paul and the man who keeps him in prison, the Roman governor Felix. We might be surprised at what they discuss and the reactions of Felix to the discussions. In his telling of the discussions, Luke mentions three topics: righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come. Jesus and Peter talk about those topics as well.
ISSUES & ANSWERS upcoming schedule is as follows:
     Today ~ Stan Ott
     Nov. 20 ~ Matt Harris -“What Does the Bible Say About My Debt?”

IF YOU INVOLVED OR WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED in music and worship ministry at Leidy’s? On November 14th we are having an all worship and music gathering in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. which will include dinner, fellowship, worship, and a brief message on the heart of worship. If you are interested in becoming part of these ministries please take this opportunity to join us. This is a key gathering where we will discuss important plans for the future and further grow together as a worship and music ministry. Contact Pastor Chris at Chris@leidyschurch.org or call the church office if you will be attending.
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP REMINDER – There will be no Youth Fellowship this evening.
DOUBLING YOUR DOLLARS is underway. Generous businessmen from the congregation want to motivate us to make a serious dent in our mortgage. They have pledged to match every dollar given to the Building Fund in November and December until the challenge goal of $150,000 is reached. You’re invited to help us meet this challenge.
THE MISSION’S COMMITTEE meets this Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the Conference Room.
SAMPLE CRAFTS FOR THE ADVENT WORSHIP on November 27th are on the table outside the Fellowship Hall near the mailboxes. Be sure to sign up for the craft you wish to make before the lines are filled. All attending are invited to share pizza and beverages afterwards. Please bring a dessert to share. If you’re not “crafty”, but don’t want to miss eating with your family and friends, signup only for the meal. We need to know you’re joining us, so we know how many to expect.
JUDGMENT HOUSE actors should return all clothes and scarves given to you, washed, to the box in the gym as soon as possible so that we can store them for next time. If you have questions, contact Pastor Andrew. If you are missing any props you lent us for Judgment House, email Pastor Andrew at ozyedmonds@yahoo.com.
MISSING from the Confirmation room since Saturday, Oct 29: the bottom of a large slate blue plastic storage tub. Please return to the church office if found.

MONTCO ANGELS are being sought. The Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth seeks “Angels” each Christmas season to help provide gifts for children in the child welfare system. These are kids who will not receive gifts except through this means. Gwen Damiani from our congregation is coordinating this program and would be glad to have you become an Angel. You may contact Gwen at gdamiani@montcopa.org for all the details. Please contact her before the 20th of November.
BEFORE YOU STUFF YOURSELF with turkey or hit the crowds at the mall, come on out and explore all the unique gifts at our Christmas Craft & Gift Sale this saturday…from 9-2. There will be lots of homemade goods & crafts for anyone on your gift list!

HELP IS NEEDED to teach/assist with crafts at the Advent Workshop. All the crafts are planned, the shopping for supplies will be done, and instructions are provided – so it’s easy and a great way to keep the tradition going. Sign up at the table across from the mailboxes near the entry to the Fellowship Hall.
VOLLEYBALL SIGNUP ends tomorrow. If you haven’t signed up, now is the time. Contact Joseph Thompson if you have any questions.

NEW LADIES BIBLE STUDY beginning Monday, November 21st at 6:45 in room 118. Slaying the Giants in Your Life by Dr. David Jeremiah. Have you felt discouraged, experienced fear, or been tempted to worry? God has not left us without weaponry to defeat these giants. Indeed we have the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17) at our disposal! Dr. David Jeremiah will share specific scriptures for defeating each giant so that you can walk in victory as a follower of Christ. Weekly topics are: fear, discouragement, loneliness, worry, guilt, temptation, anger, resentment, doubt, procrastination, failure, jealousy. If you would like a copy of the study guide, please call Sandy Nase at 215-669-1421.
NEED A HYMNAL? The hymnals that had to be taken out of the pews because they are missing #s 263-288, need a new home. They do, however, have #s 289-311 in twice! If interested help yourself from the table in the church office.
LADIES OF LEIDY’S (actually anyone who loves to bake!): Don’t forget your baked goods for the Craft Show bake sale. Bring to church this Friday night or Saturday morning before 9 a.m.  Proceeds from the sale go to the Building Fund during Double Your Dollars, so all donations are appreciated…even if you aren’t an official LOL member! Call Donna Frueh if you can help at any Lady of Leidy’s table.

Eternal Father, Strong to Save

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bids the mighty ocean deep,
Its own appointed limit keep:
O hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea.
O Christ, the Lord of hill and plain,
O’er which our traffic runs amain,
By mountain pass or valley low,
Wherever, Lord, our brethren go,
Protect them by They guarding hand,
From every peril on the land.
O Spirit whom the Father sent,
To spread abroad the firmament;
O wind of heaven by Thy might,
Save all who dare the eagle’s flight,
And keep them by Thy watchful care,
From every peril in the air.
O Trinity of love and power,
Our brethren shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them whereso’er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
Praise from air and land and sea.
