*   CONFESSION OF SIN: (first in silence then in unison)
[from Martin Luther’s A Simple Way to Pray]
C: O dear Lord, God and Father, enter not into judgment against us, because no man living is justified before You. Do not count it against us as a sin, that we are so unthankful for Your unspeakable goodness, spiritual and physical, or that we stray into sin many times every day, more often than we can know or recognize. Do not look upon how good – or how wicked – we have been, but only upon the infinite compassion which You have bestowed upon us in Christ, Your dear Son. Grant forgiveness also to those who have harmed or wronged us, as we forgive them from our hearts. They inflict the greatest injury upon themselves, by arousing Your anger in their actions toward us. We are not helped by their ruin; we would much rather that they be saved with us. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Turned Right Side Up. Saul of Tarsus was not a man of half measures. He was an all-in type of guy. Confronted by Jesus, ministered to by Ananias, worked on by the Holy Spirit, he is converted. What does he immediately begin to do? Just what you would expect: heads to the synagogues and begins proving that Jesus is the Messiah. He does this from the OT since none of the NT is written yet. He went down to Arabia (perhaps what is known as Petra today) and did the same. Eventually we’ll find him fleeing Damascus and Jerusalem to avoid the plots of those trying to kill him.

A GATHERING FOR PRAYER takes place at Leidy’s Church this Thursday evening. There are many things about which the Church needs to pray, but we’ll focus on two items in particular: persecuted Christians around the world; and asking the Holy Spirit to bring a deep spirit of repentance to our land. Further details are in the September Newsletter.
THE BUILDING PROJECT got slowed down in the paving department this week. Bureaucratic red tape prevented any macadam from being put in place until Friday. The sidewalk along Cherry Lane continues to be poured. Another retaining pond was put in where the nice pretty pasture used to be! The landscapers transformed mounds of dirt and strips of weeds into neatly cultivated and freshly sown pieces of potential lawns! Inside the new facility everything was a swirl of activity. Stairwells were worked on, glass installed, drywall continued to be hung and painted, the electrical network kept on expanding, and lots of carpentry work was done. Oh, and a concrete truck got entangled with the electrical wires to the parsonage and left those folk powerless for several hours. Out of it all, we got a new and bigger electrical pole, and with the lines placed considerably higher than before! Thanks be to God for His continued mercies to us all.
COLLECTING USED MEN’S COATS to be sent to Ukraine. The Murmylos plan to send lots of used men’s winter coats to Ukraine in the next few weeks. They are looking for sizes small and medium, though we suspect they’ll take larges also. The coats will be used in a ministry in Ukraine that’s reaching out to homeless men. New coats lead to a stronger temptation to sell them. The coats should be in good/funtional and clean condition. A box is located in the narthex marked “Used Men’s Coats for Ukraine.” The cut-off date for receiving the coats is October 4th – that’s just two weeks away! – so clean out your closets sooner rather than later.
INVOLVED & INVESTED is a two week Sunday School special on how Leidy’s Church works happens this morning and next Sunday. All the adult SS classes and all the narthex loungers and all the out-to-brunch crew and all others are asked to come together in the Fellowship Hall these two weeks. Sponsored by the Focus Group that’s been meeting this past year, details may be found in the September Newsletter. Food will be available.
JUDGEMENT HOUSE ACTORS: Your parts will be posted on the youth bulletin board in the narthex next Sunday, September 27. Adults and youth should check off that you have seen the part assigned to you and should plan to attend practice next Sunday night from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and every Sunday thereafter.
EVERY YEAR ABOUT 1,000 ABORTIONS are done at the Planned Parenthood abortuary in nearby Warminster. It’s all perfectly legal, but totally immoral. It’s also perfectly legal – and totally moral as well as spiritually urgent – for Christians to pray for an end to abortion. 40 Days for Life is just that: 40 days when Christians unite to seek God’s mercy and help as they pray outside Planned Parenthood abortuaries. Leidy’s Church is planning on joining other local churches to pray at the Planned Parenthood abortuary in Warminster on Wednesday, Sept. 30th. Prayers will be offered from 7 am to 7 pm. If you are able to volunteer an hour or so to pray with other believers on the 30th, please call 215-723-8707 to register or for more info. The PP abortuary is located at 610 Louis Drive, one block off Street Road. Thanks for your help.
40 DAYS FOR LIFE begins this Wednesday, September 23rd and continues through November 1st. Daily prayer gatherings will take place near the Planned Parenthood facility just off Street Road in Warminster from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Leidy’s Church day to witness by interceding is Wednesday, September 30th. We need to have each hour covered, so contact the church office so we know when you’ll be able to be present for prayer. Take part in praying for life.
THE SHOW Amazing Grace at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City has been cancelled as of the October 25th show. If you already paid to go with us on November 14th, you will be refunded your money within the next week. Sorry for any inconvenience you may have been caused.
