* THE OPENING HYMN: #319 Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
* THE CONFESSION OF SIN – first in silence & then in unison
C: Gracious God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, You have promised to receive us when we come to You. We confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have disobeyed Your law. We have not loved You or our neighbors as we ought. Forgive us, O God, and grant that we may live and serve You in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Getting in The Way. Saul of Tarsus – who will become the great apostle Paul, though he’s not there yet – does all he can to get in the way of the thriving, growing young Church. In Jerusalem and outlying areas, the fellowship of believers is prospering. Saul’s opposition to these new believers is implacable, his threats are murderous. The folk he’s after are identified in our text as belonging to the Way. This is the first corporate name by which the early Church was known. One wonders if it is a name they adopted, or, if someone attached it to them.
RALLY DAY is next week! Plan to be here. Ministry Commissions and Charges will be issued during each service of worship. Sunday School features the sausage and pancake breakfast, Bibles for those entering First Grade, a balloon launch, an opportunity to meet new teachers, and some other interesting items. Join in as we rally for a fresh academic year of serving the Lord Jesus.

GET SOME ANSWERS to those accusations that America has been a corrupt and oppressive force in the world since her founding. The Issues and Answers class meets today in the Fellowship Hall and finishes viewing the film America: Imagine the World Without Her. Responses are provided for five foundational accusations we find interwoven into much of what we see, hear, and read every day.
INVOLVED & INVESTED is a two week Sunday School special on how Leidy’s Church works. Happening on September 20th and 27th, all the adult SS classes and all the narthex loungers and all the out-to-brunch crew and all others are asked to come together in the Fellowship Hall these two weeks. Sponsored by the Focus Group that’s been meeting this past year, details may be found in the September Newsletter. Food will be available.
THE BUILDING PROJECT has had laboring folk laboring hard all through the week leading up to Labor Day! They will be off tomorrow. Inside the building one will see that the plywood for the ceilings above the Fellowship Hall and the sanctuary is in place. Next will come the dry wall for each ceiling. In the administrative area the dry wall is already in place. Also getting into place are the lights for the sanctuary. Outside it’s been like the third day of creation: trees and shrubs are appearing overnight! The many islands in the parking lots are the object of the landscaper’s skills. A big truck loaded down with rock has been seen moving slowing across all the parking areas with several guys clustered around it. It’s the testing to insure the foundation layer of stone is compacted to the degree the code requires. Next will come the macadam.
LAST CALL FOR PAGES for the 28:19 project. It wraps up today! Prizes and awards are forthcoming. If you have a good testimony of what you discovered or learned from participating in the 28:19 project this summer, please speak about it with Vangie, or jot her a note with some details.

A GATHERING FOR PRAYER takes place at Leidy’s Church on Thursday evening, September 24th. There are many things about which the Church needs to pray, but we’ll focus on two items in particular: persecuted Christians around the world; and asking the Holy Spirit to bring a deep spirit of repentance to our land. Further details are in the September Newsletter.
